O Christmas Tree

A few Sundays ago we headed over to the tree lot (Home Depot) to pick out our Christmas tree. Before we got down to the tree business we stopped by Aquatic Park to let the kids have some fun.

Olive almost fell asleep in this swing. I think the only reason that she didn't was that I kept talking to the father pushing his kid in the swing next to us. Shocking, I know.

Nikos tried out the tire swing for the first time and seemed to like it.

Off to Home Depot! Turns out we missed both the Cecchins and the D'Angelos by a half hour at the same "lot" that morning. Next year I say we all go to Half Moon Bay (or Evergreen Farm) and cut one down!

I decided we should go with noble fir again (over douglas) since the branches seem to hold heavier ornaments better. Like every year, I tried to pick a tree from the 8-10 foot row, while Taki kept me grounded by having us select from the 6-7 footers.

Sadly, our tree had a bulbous stump that went unnoticed (at least by one of us, the other one of us pointed it out and was ignored) so once we got it home we had to lop off about a foot. What? Boo. I think he sits at about 6.5 feet now. I guess you figure that a 7.5 foot tree may have been a problem, what with our eight foot ceilings and the ornamental Rudolph TreeTopper. Of course, since someone went ahead and stole that tree topper from us, we wouldn't have had to worry about that anyway.

When we got home we made to pose for the annual - My Parents Stuck Me On Top Of Our Car With Our Tree shot.

As a comparison - here's 2008 where I bought Nikos a shirt specifically for the occasion.

What? Yes. Obviously this is before I was spending almost 2k a month in daycare!

And 2007...

Happy Holidays!

Always put the butt of the tree toward the front of the car. It's more aerodynamic that way (tree won't lift as easily) and easier on the poor tree. Mich noticed your faux pas as she walked by my computer!

It is such a good thing you had Olive. Now you have a true living doll to play dress up with...save Nikos from those solitary pics of him in adorable clothes that we love, but he may hate when he's older! Lol! Although, she does have 2nd child syndrome (plus that daycare bill!) so she might be spared!

The D'Angelos were also victim to a bulbous stump.
