Packing Blows

So we just started packing up the house so we can move out for the renovation. Did I mention I HATE packing? Hate it hate it. Especially when we are not packing up to move to Manhattan Beach, but are instead moving to Antioch for the summer. Argh. I think Taki will be putting up some pictures of the work-in-progress renovation tonight so you can get a better idea of what we are doing. Basically we are adding a couple of hundred square feet so we can have a bigger kitchen, master bedroom and a more open living space. I think Taki is hoping it will stop me from whining about moving back to LA every few months. Ha, doubtful. We will be living in my parents house until October 31st - as they will be off on their two month vacation (oh to be retired!) I am crossing my fingers the house will be finished (or close to) when we return in November.

Alright, I better stop procrastinating and get back to packing. I left off contemplating whether I wanted to keep my Delta Gamma Winter Formal 1997 shotglass. Do I need this? It is , 10 years old. Are we too grown up for shotglasses now that we have a baby? I mean, shouldn't we upgrade to a jigger so that we can measure the alcohol we put in our drinks? Of course, who am I kidding, it's not like we run a bar, we just dump the vodka in liberally. Speaking of, I think I will make myself a Hangar One and tonic for the rest of the packing (note the time on this post, not only is it 5:00 somewhere, it is actually 5:00 here!)

Check Out These Guns

Here are some fun comparison shots of Niko (top photo is 12 weeks and the bottom is 3 weeks). Obviously in the last 9 weeks he has been growing his hair and working on his tan. And are those little muscles? I think so.

Spellcheck?

Seriously, I could make so much money just proofreading for companies. I mean COULD YOU DIE? They spelled prosciutto wrong on their permanent sign at the ballpark. (PRO SQWEE TOE for those in the know - hee hee). But really, I could barely stand it. I guess I should apologize to everyone reading this blog...Taki says Sarah is the only one that will be amused by this post.

Go Giants

Today Niko went to his second Giants game (thanks Uncle Steve for the tickets!) While we were there he was voted Cutest Giants Fan Ever. Yes, I know, pretty exciting.

En Fuego!

Much like Barry Bonds continually breaking his own records, Niko clocked in at eight hours and forty nine minutes last night. The evening's activities included a) a party at the neighbors b) fire juggling at the party! - Taki even attempted this (see video), c) one beer and two glasses of wine for me and d) a bedtime of 10:50pm.

Hmm, so basically if you compare to the previous long sleep, the two constants are libations and a party. I need to stop wasting my time blogging - it looks like I have some alcohol to drink and a party to crash! Chances are we are going to have our hands full raising this one!

All Smiles

Niko has been smiling up a storm lately. Here's one we caught while he was in his bouncy chair.

Almost Pulling a Brooke D'Angelo... (sleeping thru the night)

So, in the mystery that is parenthood - Taki and I are trying to figure out what we did right.

Wednesday night Niko slept EIGHT HOURS AND THREE MINUTES during his first sleep of the night. Whoop whoop! I put him down at 7:45 and then waited for him to wake back up in an hour or so...but he didn't! He woke up once and then went back down again for three hours and 50 minutes. Who is this kid?? So was it the three glasses of wine at my company happy hour? Was it Niko's mere attendance at said happy hour? The bart ride? Much like the bermuda triangle, this mystery can not be solved, at least not anytime soon. For now we will just cross our fingers that the stars will align and it will happen again!

Dude, this kills.

Nikos sat up for the first time yesterday. Okay, okay, he had a little help. Here's the proof...

And sorry my running commentary is so lame - you may want to mute it and pretend you are watching an old eight track.

Blonde hair and blue eyes???

Grammy and Pop-Pop came out to visit Niko yesterday and he got to model his new shirt with his lookalike, Pop-Pop.

Size Matters...

At Nikos' 2 month check-up we found out that his head size, weight and height were in the 5% range...not that there is anything wrong with that! :) However, check out these comparison shots, he may be in the 5% range but he is still growing in leaps and bounds from when he left the NICU. The photo below was taken when Niko was 11 weeks old (this past Saturday).

Same sunglasses, same hand...1st week of life.

Get me some McLovin

To celebrate Niko's 11th week of life we decided to take him to his first movie. We went to the 8pm showing of Superbad (go George Michael Bluth!) and he was a champ, sleeping in his Peanut pouch the whole time (love that thing!). The movie was pretty funny...I'm off to surf the web for a McLovin onesie...

I'm not your Puppet

Here are a few more fun pics of Niko. Obviously, Taki and I have not learned that he isn't a plaything to be posed however we want. Bad parents!
Niko's first keg...I think he is crying because we matched him up with the pony keg as opposed to the big boy version.
Dude this one KILLS me. First of all, Taki did his hair (I am so proud) but more importantly, tell me he doesn't look exactly like a Who from Whoville in the Grinch Who Stole Christmas (see below). I mean seriously, he could have been an extra in the live action Jim Carey version.

Just chillin' with my white wine...love the baseball socks.

Who's that hottie?

I also wanted to add a quick post about Jayme's bachelorette party - what a fabulous time! The first weekend of August a gaggle of us headed down to Palm Springs to celebrate Jayme's impending nuptials. We had a great time gossiping, laying out in the sun, drinking and dancing (not necessarily in that order). Taki and I are both looking forward to the wedding on the 22nd of September - here's to Jayme and Beck! - Heather

Tiny Love Mobile - aka Baby Crack

Okay - here we go with a blog. I had some complaints that my website was too slow so we decided to switch to a blog - it does seem to be what all the cool kids are doing.

This past Saturday we headed over to Katie and Jack's for pizza and board games...ah how our lives have changed! Ha! Niko marked his 10th week on Saturday and he has been smiling a lot and even getting out some little giggles. He and Brooke spent some quality time in her crib, mesmerized by her Tiny Love mobile. Of course, seeing as how he was so into it we ran out to buy one the next day...anything that will give us a few extra minutes to get things done around the house! Jack took a video of the kids in the crib - we figured we could use it to embarrass them in 16 years or so! - Heather
