Good thing that we took advantage of the nice weather last weekend because the rain is back.

Winter in California
Last Sunday Taki and I headed up to Two Thomas Park with the kids. The weather was great and the kids had a fun time running around. Taki suddenly decided he was a huge Greenbay/Chicago fan (??) and ditched us at the park so he could go watch the game. Ironically, the whole park seemed to clear out around gametime - at lesat most of the dads did. Since Tyke and his "let's not get too wet and messy" mentality left the park I let the kids have at it. Woohoo.
Good thing that we took advantage of the nice weather last weekend because the rain is back.

Night 1 of Pacifier Elimination
Since Olive was about a year old she has been using pacifiers for only naps & bedtime. Well, mean momma decided that we should cut them out altogether so tonight is Night One! I told her how she was a big girl and only babies needed pacifiers and that we were going to give her pacifiers to a baby who needed them. Nikos had lots of questions about this and seemed a little upset by the whole thing. "Why are you giving Olive's pacipiers away? Won't she be sad?" Funny, for someone that never used pacifiers himself he seemed very concerned about Olive having to give hers up.
Here is our goodbye song.
Yes, the goodbye song sounds suspiciously just like a goodnight song - implying that she thinks they will reunite sometime in the future.
Taki mentioned that the night before I have a big interview might not be the best time to try this out - ha. BUT so far so good. We'll keep you posted!

Shopping Made Easy
Last Friday the kids and I hit up Target and tried out the new "family" cart.
I informed Taki that, thanks to these carts, shopping with three kids was totally doable. He followed up with a comment about how if we HAD three kids we couldn't afford up shop. Ha.
Took these last pics for the PA fan since they were digging out from a snowstorm...
Sunny skies.

Zoo Buddies
On New Years Eve Day my friend Brenda (from high school) and I finally got our boys together for the first time. They are very close in age (Nikos is about 3.5 months older than Drew) and they got along really well - even allowing Brenda and I to get in some gossiping!
The boys act like snakes, I think Drew is going Boa while Nikos is working lazy garden snake.
Checking out the monkeys...
and the elephants.
Posing on the frog and not giving in to my pleads for a smile.
Smile!
And on to the rides.
Cruising for chics.
Such a great time - here's hoping we'll have another playdate soon!

Show Me Show Me Show Me
Apparently the idea of taking a picture and watching yourself on video is very confusing to an almost 2 year old.
Here she is (a little bit over accessorized) showing me her "Batman Cake" (cape).
Next up, she wants to catch herself after applying a little bit of (fake) makeup.
And finally, a Giants angel.

The Return of EBHH/Berkeley
A few weeks ago we brought EBHH back to our place - with special Peninsula guests the Grochols!
Towards the end of the night, many drinks later, one of the adults looked over and saw Reesey cutting Brookie's hair. (did I mention Katie had already left and Brookie has a small history with bad haircuts - good thing she can pull them off!) There was a momentary freak out before we realized the scissors were just the playdoh ones. Phew!
The adults relaxed and let the kids play barbershop.
Nikos & Marco
Marco cuts Brookie's hair while Ryan supervises.
The girls take over.
And a sign of a good party.
Who's hosting next week??

Little Miss Piggy
Some people may think that I am losing weight because I have been working out more - but really it is because my darling daughter steals all my food. And the good stuff - like my restaurant breakfast leftovers. ARGH! Her favorite thing to say lately is "I wanna bite."

Nice To Meet Ya
Prepare for some video blasts while I pull them off my iPhone.
This one goes out to Jack - who taught the kids (first Nikos and Brooke, now Olive and Jack) a handshake along with a "nice to meet ya." Poor child was saying it to me for awhile before I could figure it out and take a video. She displays her diva 'tude in the end when demanding I let her play with my 'top (laptop.)

Flowers and Trains
Nikos recently had his first field trip at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The conservatory has a train exhibit - which was the main driver for the location. Nikos was fortunate enough to have not just me tag along for the field trip but Grammy and Pop-Pop as well.
Nikos (on the left) and his classmates patiently waiting for everyone to join us so we could enter the exhibit.
The kids spent some time looking at all of the flowers - which were beautiful! - while asking us how soon we could go see the trains.
Nikos is the bedhead second from the right. I obviously need to make some time for a haircut.
Spying from behind the plants.
Here are some shots I was able to take of the beautiful flowers while my Mom kept an eye on Nikos.
And finally - on to the train room! Obviously this was Niko's favorite part.
The exhibit was all built out of reclaimed materials - check out the Ghiradelli in the background, made out of switch plates.
Nikos waiting for Thomas to come around again.
Checking out the other trains.
Cable car coming out of the tunnel.
And finally, the whole class posing in front of the Conservatory.
Can't wait for the next field trip - hopefully I'll have to ask for the day off for the next one. :)

Last 2010 Visit to MBA
We maxed out our Aquarium Pass by making one last trip down to Monterey before the start of the new year.
As always, the wave tunnel was a huge hit with Nikos (lil Miss Olive was not so sure about it and she was NOT sitting next to Nikos for a picture for any manner of bribery.)
We opted to save money (you know, single family income and all) and pack our lunches and FREEZE our butts off outside - woohoo!
We visited the flamingos...
And caught some cute N&O cuddles.
We used our Palm Springs Roadtrip dual dvd purchase to watch Nemo on the way down and the kids had a GREAT time looking for Nemo in the tank.
Kids cuddle in the clam.
And play in the SplashZone.
Olive loved the water play!
(And no, I don't prefer Olive to Nikos, I was just hanging out in the toddler area with her while Taki was in the "big" kid area with Nikos.)
Quick pic by the tree.
And the sea.
