Let Your Inner Art Beast Out

A few Fridays ago Mel and I took most of the kids (Maile was in Disneyworld) to Art Beast, a great little kids hand-on museum in Sacramento. It is located in an old house downtown, with fun activities in different rooms on the three floors and an outside play area. We had a blast!

We started out on the second floor art area.
Olive tries painting for the first time.

Mason and Nikos painting.

Kira playing with the moon sand.

This is what happens when you take your eyes off your one year old to take pictures of the other kids...

Moving on to moon sand...

Next up we headed outside to enjoy the nice weather.

Mason entertains us with some LOUD music.

Ollie dives into the shaving cream (can you tell where that hand is headed?!)

I redirect her to the water to wash off her hands.

Nikos had fun building some sand and water creations.

Kiwi shows Olive how much fun it can be too wash the babies. (Kira tried to get Mel in on it but Mel said she washes babies all day at work. I used the same excuse when she tried to get me to proofread something later. Ha.)

Back inside we stop off at the little play house room - I know this isn't a great pic but I love the action in Kira's piggies.

After playing with fake food we decide we are hungry so we walk about four blocks to a great deep dish pizza joint. Yum!

Olive enjoys the pizza and the antipasti platter. Can you tell what's on her finger? Connoisseur or cannibal - you decide.

We grab a cousins pic of three cooperating kids (and one pouting one) on our way out the door.

Notice Olive's one little bare foot. Sadly, that little pink Van was lost somewhere along the way...never to be seen again.

Back at Art Beast we go downstairs to the costume play area. The three older kids converse with Mission Control on the space shuttle.

Someone attempts an illegal moonwalk.

Olive dresses as a little fairy princess.

After squealing at me and pointing I realized she wanted me to get all of the stuff animals down and pile them around her. Here is a shot of her in complete bliss - she was in heaven, shrieking and giggling and cuddling up a storm.

The elusive Snow White (I think I have 10 pics of the back of her.)

I have to warn you - several dollhouse people were eaten prior to this picture.

The torture continues!

And we end with a puppet show!

Such a great trip! We topped it off with some dessert from a little dessert place down the street (ironically, one that we found out about from our cousin Kristin from PA!) and headed home. Can't wait to go back!
