I finally got my sh*t together and took the kids to their first dentist appointments - what a way to spend my last day off before I started working again.
I was a little nervous since Tyke couldn't come with me but the majority of the visit went really well. I had the kids bring a backpack with a few toys but since it was a pediatric dentist I needn't have worried.
Olive gets ready for her closeup.
Nikos went first and he wasn't really nervous at all - the only thing that realized bothered him was the bright light but after he got the sunglasses he seemed to be okay.
The hygenist (or dental assistant? I can never remember - sorry Jennie!) showed Nikos how she would clean his teeth.
All smiles after the cleaning.
After the dentist came over and checked out his teeth she realized he had a couple of cavities in his front teeth (turns out we should have been flossing??) She had him take some x-rays to make sure - he was a champ again, especially when he found out he got to pick a toy afterwards.
Unfortunately there aren't many pictures of Olive since she was a little upset in the beginning and she ended up huddled on my lap for the first part. Luckily, even though she wasn't a huge fan of the flossing part she was totally fine with brushing her teeth and then finishing up flossing at the end. And a big fan of her sunglasses prize as well.
When it came to the end with the dentist she laid down on the chair and Nikos crawled up with her and held her hand so she wouldn't be scared - it was super cute!

Easter - the Bunny
After our Greek Easter party I insisted we dye Easter eggs since we hadn't yet had the chance to do it and Easter was the next morning. Luckily Brookie was still there so she got to enjoy in the egg dying with Nikos & Olive.
The older kids wanted to do funny faces for the picture - as you can guess, O doesn't completely "get" it yet.
Olive concentrating on her eggs.
Side note - Under Olive's right arm you'll notice "Other Baby". On the day of our Greek Easter party Olive's daycare provider dropped off a new baby for Olive. She looked almost exactly the same as Scabie Baby except with a different eye color and outfit. She thought we might be able to swap out the babies, I was a little dubious. Fast forward to Olive waking up from her nap, I took her out to the deck where the party was in full swing and snagged Scabie Baby from her. I came back inside and grabbed the new baby, went back out on the deck and gave her to Olive. Olive grabbed the new baby and tucked her under her arm, just like she did with Scabie Baby. I was floored, I couldn't believe it could be that easy to swap out a new baby...that is, until she looked at me and said (in a total possessed by the devil voice) "Where's MY BABY?" Ha. She still drags Scabie Baby everywhere with her but she does tolerate "Other Baby" as she's deemed her.
Nikos demonstrates "a watched egg never dyes".
Second guessing his color choices.
Things got a little difficult the next morning since I explained to Taki that the Easter Bunny always hides the hardboiled eggs as well as the baskets. We realized that Nikos usually gets up about 2 hours before Olive does so hiding the eggs was going to be tricky. We ended up having Taki distract the kids in their room so the Easter Bunny could get down to business. Ollie wanted to put on her dress as soon as she woke up but Nikos opted to hunt in pjs.
Egg Hunt!
Counting his eggs.
Sporting the bunny ears (later in the afternoon after she decided to change into a new dress.)
Checking out their loot.
The kids did really well, Nikos was great about pointing out eggs to Olive that she missed. Looking forward to next year!

Easter - the Greek
Way back in April we threw a Greek Easter party at our house.
Olive and Nikos (in their Greek colors) with Grandma.
Baby Jack plays with bubbles.
One of the few pics of the adults at the party.
Sign of a good party - parents leave their sleeping kids in the car to come to the party.
(Not pictured - additional car with additional asleep kid.) Can you say rager?
Since we threw the party on the eve of regular Easter we added an egg hunt to the usual festivities.
Reesey hunts for eggs.
Mel supervises while Nikos, Clara and Maile hunt in the background.
Mason and Clara.
Brookie
Sara and Molly observe the chaos.
Kira
Joey and Maile explore the front yard.
Breaking into the candy stash!
Reese
Olive (hershey kiss in hand)
Kiwi
Olive and Mai
Brookie and Mason
Baby Jack
Fun Fact: Just as the Easter Egg Hunt was starting Olive threw a fit because she wanted to wear different sandals than she was wearing to hunt for eggs. Uh huh.
