By Self!

This week I am working regular 8 hour days at work (instead of my usual 4/10s M-TH) since we are slammed and it works out better for the group that I am in the office every day. Although I’ll miss out on my Friday off, I am able to help Taki get the kids ready in the morning and then we can drop them off together before commuting into the city. This morning Nikos woke up a few minutes before 7 so I gave him some books to read in his crib while I hopped in the shower. When I got out he was still reading so I continued to get ready until he yelled for Taki and I to get him out. After we both go into his room he tells us that he wants to get out “by self.” What? Taki and I both exchanged a look of horror since we are NOT ready for this. AAAh. We tell him we’ll watch why he does it by self. He lifts one leg up and over the rail, he then shimmies himself and pulls the other leg up, so he is basically lying on top of the rail, parallel to the floor. His next move? He basically just lets go. Luckily Taki was standing right there and caught him before he crashed onto the floor. Ah yes. It is a thing of beauty. I partly blame myself since when we are done on the changing table he stands up and leaps off (similar to his jump into the pool.) I later heard him tell Taki that when he was jumping out of his crib he was “jumping into the ocean.”

So I guess we are going big boy bed shopping this weekend?

In the meantime I will try to get this circus feat on video.

When I put him down for his "no nap" on Saturday I heard the cage rattle pretty loud at one point after he had been quiet for awhile and I thought to myself that little stinker is trying to climb out. So I went running over and opened the door. Sure enough he had one leg up and I got the "by self" routine too. End of nap! Forgot to report this to Taki-bad grandma!

Bill says: Payback is wonderful!

Cindy says: You guys had a pretty good run with Nikos in his crib. Now the fun begins . . .
