Two Cute Babies

These pictures may look innocent enough but they were taken back in August - now that baby Jack is becoming more mobile and increasingly more adorable Baby O is NOT having it. She definitely wants to retain the Cutest Baby on the Block title. I'll try to get some recent pics - in the meantime you can enjoy these.

Sunday Sunday Sunday

We started out the day with a 2 mile walk up to Cinnaholic in downtown Berkeley - a vegan custom cinnamon roll shop. Yes, I have to admit I was a little freaked about the whole vegan thing - but I had a Groupon for half off and it got great reviews on Yelp so I thought we'd try it. And hello? The bomb.

Totally customizable cinnamon rolls! Nikos opted for regular cinnamon roll with vanilla icing.



We added chocolate chips to Olive's...



She was a fan.


Mine was lemon icing with blackberries on top.



And Taki's was key lime icing with graham crackers crumbs. They were seriously awesome. The only thing that could make these cinnamon rolls better would be if they offered crumbled bacon as a topping...which I realize goes against the whole vegan thing.

Next up we walked the two miles home (after a quick stop at the Starbucks next door - so perfect!)
We stopped at Ohlone Park on the way home so the kids could get some wiggles out.

First up - we see this kid playing with this flying saucer thing. Did I mention that he was flying it with an iPad and that it had a camera on its nose?? Be careful all you backyard sunbathers!


We hit the playground next.





Whoops. Perhaps I should have given you some warning for this one. Ha. We went to the D'Angelo house to watch the Giants game and the kids decided to play dress up. Hee hee!

August in LA

In August daycare was closed for a week for vacation so I took the opportunity to take Nikos down to LA for a quick trip to meet baby Tyler Beck.

I scored totally cheap flights on Virgin and the trip down did make me question why I ever fly anyone but Virgin (or Jet Blue) for the fact of their awesome personal tvs.

Next up - I let Nikos pick the rental car.

Yes. I can only hope that the reason I saw people in other yellow cars on the freeway was that they let their toddlers pick the color as well.

And finally we make it to meet the adorable baby Tyler!

The Becks live in a fabulous new place complete with a pool and hot tub. I told them its like a timeshare. Frankly I'm surprised my parents weren't in the unit next door.

Love this one.

After spending time with the Becks Nikos and I drove to the Villafanas. First up, we headed to the beach (where Jayme and Tyler met up with us for his first beach trip!) Jenn took us out to the Peninsula in Long Beach - a great location with no waves and little wind.

The last morning of our trip we met up with Kelli and Connor in Manhattan Beach and had a great breakfast at Uncle Bill's - sadly, I got no pictures of this event.

Here's Nikos with his be-good-on-the-plane-bribe before we boarded the plane for San Francisco.

Although the trip was far too short for my taste, we had a fabulous time. It was great to meet baby Beck and see a bunch of our friends. I love LA!

The Great Debate

Giants vs Phillies? Nope. Tastykake vs Hostess. Puh-leeze. We all know this is a non-starter. Interestingly enough, the sole Hostess fan in the house gobbled up 3/4 of the chocolate cupcakes that my parents shipped us from PA. I am only okay with this since he did not touch my peanut butter kandykakes - I mean, we all know that's grounds for divorce.

I tried to get Nikos with his pb kandykake (which I begrudgingly had to share since Taki ate ALL the cupcakes and the "knockoff ho-hos") but he ate it too quickly.

How Big is Baby Olive?

Baby O had her 18 month (or 18 month 3 week) doctor's appointment today. We went out to visit the cousins in the morning so we raced back to our side for her 2pm appointment, making it into the lobby with about 30 seconds to spare.

Here the kids are reading books while I hastily fill out the form and agree to things like the fact that I never drink hot things while holding Olive and she has no idea what a tv is. Ha.

Stats! At almost 19 months Olive weighs 21lbs and 10.5oz (11%) and is 31inches tall (25%).


When I checked Niko's stats for the same appt (he went in at 19 months 3 weeks) he was 21lbs 12oz and 31 inches!!

Here I am trying to distract them while we wait for the nurse so they both can get their flu shots and Olive can get her vaccines.


Dr. Ray is very happy with how well Olive is doing. She chattered up a storm for the doctor and said both please and thank you during the appointment, in addition to repeating "Pop-Pop" about 10 times. We both agreed that Olive is on the same late walking track that Nikos was on (he walked unaided at 19 months) and neither of us are worried about it. She did fairly well for her 4 shots, turned bright red and held her breath for a second and then out a scream that expressed her fury, quickly calming down to Nikos serenading her with his ABCDs.

Possible Foreshadowing?

I walked in one these Giants fans teaching the Philly "Anactic" a harsh lesson.

First they shook the "stuffing" (coins) out of him...

And then Nikos pinned his arms behind him and made him stare at the ground.


I swear, they aren't usually this violent. It must be the playoffs.

Ps- don't you love Olive's new Giants getup? (Prepare to see it a lot in upcoming posts.) What you won't see is the shirt I bought myself. Apparently Alyssa Milano's MLB Small only works well for anorexic models. Back for a medium on Monday!
