At the end of May we had a sleepover with Marco! Both kids were super excited.
First the boys played baseball.
Olive cheered from the sidelines.
Next up - Mickey nuggets
And mini-cupcake cheers.
We played games and the kid watched a little Jake and the Neverland Pirates before bedtime.
I wasn't sure what to expect with putting three kids down in one room but it was pretty much a success with minor issues. Both boys started out on sleeping bags on the floor (the trundle part of Nikos' bed currently holds clothes and not a mattress) with Olive and her crib. Olive decided that she didn't want to go to bed so she cried and threw ever thing (stuffed animal, bop, scabie baby, pacifier) out of her crib multiple times. How did they get back in her crib you say? Poor sweet Marco kept retrieving them for her. Nikos on the other hand was passed out. I had to go into the room and tell Marco to not give her stuff back to her because then she wouldn't learn her lesson and you should have seen his little face - so cute. I ended up moving Olive into our room so Marco could go to sleep and when they were both asleep (about 20 minutes later) I just put her back in her crib. Easy peasy!
The next day the kids still couldn't get enough of Marco so met up with Jeff and Sarah and Marco for lunch at Jack London Square.
And back at home later Olive spent the afternoon trying on several different looks.

A little Berkeley Boho with some East Village mixed in.

Going on a Bear Hunt
As you know, I can't say enough about how much we love LOVE Nikos' preschool. Recently the kids in his class have been into bears, I think it started when they read the Going on a Bear Hunt book in class. One of the projects they did in class was to create a bear out of clay. His teachers later told me that Nikos was really into the project - all the kids created bears and then he wanted to create a cave to go with his bear as well.
His bear is in the middle - the white pieces on the bottom of the bear are his teeth, which apparently he was very intent in getting correct.
When I asked him to pose with his sculpture he was so proud it was adorable.

More May Fun
Back in May we headed for a morning 4 mile walk (RT) to enjoy some awesome cinnamon rolls.
On the way up there we Nikos got in a workout (cracking up that his face looks chubby here.)
We enjoyed the community garden...
And then both kids did some relaxing.
And finally - the reason for our exercise!
These cinnamon rolls at Cinnaholic are seriously the bomb - and vegan - what?! Seriously, I think my only complaint is that you can't add bacon to them - because we all know bacon makes everything better.
After pigging out we walked back home and Olive napped with Scabie Baby...
Later that night we headed out to PHH (Peninsula Happy Hour) with the Grochols.
Olive, Marco, Ryan, Nikos and the back of Reese.
The next morning (after some morning hugs) we enjoyed the nice weather in Berkeley.
Yes, Olive is rocking the gladiator sandals. And I don't even have a pair.

Farmers Market and EBHH (circa May 2011)
So, your chief blogger (bloggess?) has been a little busy lately (funny how a new job will do that to you) and I've been slacking on my blog updates. I'm trying to catch up - I promise.
On May 15 (??) we went to the Farmers' Market at Jack London Square in Oakland.
Olive had just found the pockets in her jacket and was very into them. Btw - she picked her oufit per usual.
Farmers' Market Loot
Olive shows off her outfit to its full glory.
Later that night we headed over to the D'Angelo's for EBHH.
Baby Jack shows off his muscles while he stretches a slinky.
The big kids pose for a picture.
(Kinda freaked out to include Olive in the "big kids" group.)
So, being good parents that pay attention to our children we happened to notice that Nikos was wearing skinny jeans and Marco was wearing baggy jeans...
Naturally, we thought it would be in their best interest to make them switch jeans. You know, because we are good parents.
And - jump...

Character Breakfast
One of my favorite memories of DisneyWorld are character breakfasts so I was super excited when Katie agreed that we should take the kids to one on Sunday morning. Conveniently the breakfast was located right in our hotel so we didn't have far to go in the morning.
On our way in we were greeted by Mickey!
Once in we raided the buffet. Nikos was super excited for his Mickey waffles and pancakes.
Pluto came by to say hi.
Followed by Minnie.
We made sure to get autographs from everyone.
Nikos was not sure how he felt about Stitch (or is it Lilo?) and then when he pretended to steal Niko's juice he decided he was not a fan at all.
Later he kept asking where the bunny that tried to steal his juice went. Ha.
Luckily Daisy brought the smile back.
Another birthday cake treat!
The kids did some surfing before we left the restaurant.
In our hotel lobby the kids posed with Goofy.
We walked over to Downtown Disney for a little shopping. The kids picked out something for themselves and then gifts for siblings/fathers/cousins. Jack and Tyke owe Katie and I for not letting our kids pick the first gift they saw. I mean, unless you think Tyke would like to roll in a GIANT Donald Duck sweatshirt.
Back at the hotel the kids occupied themselves while we waited for the taxi to the airport.
How cute was this little room with kid-sized Adirondack chairs (and a tv showing vintage Mickey cartoons.)
At the airport we rewarded the kids for a great trip (and bribed them since we arrived pretty early for our flight) with Starbucks.
Here they occupy themselves by playing with their toys on the GIANT castle Nikos insisted we buy Olive for her birthday (that had passed.)
For the record it was really cute, we were barely at Disney when we walked into a little shop (where Brookie got her Alice dress) and Nikos shrieked "there's the castle I wanted to get Olive for Christmas but you wouldn't let me! I want to give it to her for her birthday!" Since we were staying on Disney property it made it super convenient to buy and have it delivered to our hotel in the morning before our flight. I delusionally thought I would pack it in my suitcase (?!) or fit it in the overhead (?!) on the plane. Luckily one of the flight attendants felt sorry for me and he offered to check it down below and then deliver it back up to me at the gate when we arrived in Oakland. Love Southwest!
Did I mention it was Mother's Day and I knew Southwest gave out a free drink to moms if you fly on that day? (I was still bitter from last year when I flew home from Vegas on Mother's Day and it was too turbulent for drink service.) Well, I got one this year!
Despite the fact that my son was awesome most of the trip I still felt the need to toast myself. Especially since one of his infrequent bouts of non-awesomeness occurred five minutes earlier when he freaked out that Katie and Brookie were getting on the plane and the plane was going to leave without us (they were Boarding Group A and we were B) and he took off like a bat out of hell down the terminal. Yes, I had to abandon Sleeping Beauty's castle (and all of our other stuff) and jam after him. Lest you think this was a subtle move unnoticed by my fellow travelers, please enjoy these little anecdotes. Overheard by Katie, who observed the race from the front of the line "They're just like dogs...once you start chasing them they just run faster." And from my seatmate who sat next to us on the plane "So, you must be a runner..."
Ha.
And finally, the payoff. SO excited for her castle.
